Speed Stacks Promotional Video

You’ve never seen a sport like Speed Stacking before. This is a promotional video I created for Speed Stacks, the official cups of sport stacking. The video explains what sport stacking is and how the specially-designed Speed Stacks cups work. I edited the video using Adobe Premiere Pro.

Speed Stacks Footage

For the video, I wanted to show shots of me interacting with Speed Stacks, as well as closeup shots. The closeup shots are meant to show how the cups are designed. I wanted to capture multiple angles to add more variety to the video. Finally, I wanted to add a still shot of three different cup sets to show some different color options.

Editing the Video

When editing the video, I knew I wanted it to be fast-paced and exciting. I added a lot of cuts between clips, as well as hard-hitting rock music to add a bit of “edge” to the video. This makes the product look cooler to the younger target audience of Speed Stacks.

I also added a glitch effect at the beginning and end of the video. The glitch effect was courtesy of Motion Array.

Overall, I love how this video turned out. I think it really helps explain what speed stacking is and how the cups work.

4 Critical Video Marketing Stats for 2020 – Animated Infographic

No other kind of digital content has a greater emotional impact on people than video content. To prove so, I created an infographic showing key video marketing stats for 2020.

With businesses opening back up again, you’ll have to reach a huge number of people. Fortunately, the increasing value of videos, and the decreasing cost of making them, will help you spark more brand awareness and generate more sales. Here’s a look at 4 critical video marketing stats to know for your 2020 marketing strategy.

Video Marketing Generates Profit

88% of video marketers are satisfied with the ROI of their video marketing efforts on social media (Animoto, 2018). Brands use video marketing to increase sales, build brand awareness, keep their current customers informed, and reach out to new customers. One reason why video marketing is such a powerful tool is because it allows people to digest information visually, which is easier for them.

U.S. Internet Users LOVE Video Content

More and more video content is being watched now than ever before. 85% of all internet users in the United States watched online video content monthly on any device. It’s also important to note that the time spent by U.S. users watching video content weekly on a smartphone is growing over time as well. Again, people love being able to see visually how your brand is going to be useful to them.

The Demand for Brand Videos is Increasing

Studies show that 54% of consumers want more video content from brands they support. With the increasing demand for video, many industry giants are producing different types of video content in order to meet the rising need for videos. Video is in a higher demand because people are paying more attention to videos rather than plain text.

Video Marketing Influences Purchasing Decisions

A survey conducted by Wyzowl shows that eight out of ten users have purchased a product after watching a brand’s video. Additionally, Google LOVES video content. According to Google, video influences internet users by acting as a “shopping list,” reminding them of things they need to buy. Video marketing equips users with more information to carry out purchases. Some examples include demo videos or product reviews.

The Final Takeaway on Video Marketing in 2020

Overall, video marketing in 2020 is a great tool to communicate information to your audience. Not only is it useful, but now you can actually afford to produce great video content. With the help of freelance animators and video content creators (like myself), creating professional video content in 2020 is within your brand’s reach, and overtime, you’ll see a dramatic increase in sales and brand awareness.

Edaville Family Theme Park Video

  • Shot with a Canon EOS Rebel T6
  • Edited with Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2019

Last year, I worked as a photographer for Edaville Family Theme Park, a railroad-themed amusement park in Carver, Massachusetts. Edaville is also home to Thomas Land, a section of the park dedicated to Thomas the Tank Engine. It’s also the only Thomas-themed park in the United States.

Recently, I’ve had the opportunity to create this video for the park. The video showcases some of the highlights of the park, such as the Thomas Train Ride, and the Cran-tastic Cranberry Jubilee Live Show.

My thoughts on the Video

This was a fun video to make. It was nice seeing my former coworkers again. One of my first posts ever on my website was a collection of Edaville photos I took during my first photography class, so Edaville has a special place in my heart.

Tutorial Video – How to Play Guitar Faster

Regardless of what industry you’re in, tutorial videos are a great asset for communicating information to others. If you’re serious about teaching others and growing your business, tutorial videos are the way to go.

To show the effectiveness of tutorial videos, I decided to create my own as an example. It’s a video on how to play guitar faster. I created the video with Adobe Premiere Pro.

Video Equipment Used

  • 2 Canon EOS Rebel t5i DSLR cameras
  • RODE Shotgun Microphone
  • 1 Soft Box
  • 1 Hard Tin Light
  • iPhone Microphone for voice

Editing the Video

Once I shot all of my footage, I moved over to Premeire to start editing. One of the major edits that I made were audio edits. I wanted to make sure that everyone watching could hear what I was saying, without the audio being too loud and distorted.

Youtube Thumbnail

To catch people’s attention, I created this Youtube thumbnail using Adobe Spark. Creating engaging thumbnails for your videos generates more profile clicks. At the end of the day, that’s what your channel needs: more clicks and more viewers.

Final Thoughts on the Video

This was a fun video to make. I like how I can use my video editing skills to show off my other passions, music in this case. Creating videos and other digital content has granted me more opportunities to express my creativity and showcase my talents. Not only that, but It allows me to communicate information in a fun and exciting way.

Gatorade Cinemagraph

This is a cinemagraph I created for Gatorade. Gatorade is an American sports-themed beverage and food company built around its signature line of sports drinks. The concept behind the Gatorade cinemagraph was casting a shadow that would be seen drinking from the bottle while having the physical body suspended mid-gulp.

Shooting the footage

I’d like to thank Spencer Clarke and Kody Twomey for helping me set ups and shoot the cinemagraph.

It was a little difficult to get the shadow at the right angle and intensity, but we finally got the right angle that we needed.

I kneeled down for the shot and cropped above the waist to make it look like I was standing. There was a backdrop hanging too close to my head while standing that I did not want in the shot.

We set up a hard tin light that was placed to the side of me and pointed directly at me to create the hard shadow. It’s still a little soft around the edges, but you can still make out the shape of the arms and body.

Here’s a video showing the shooting process in action as well as the post-production in Flixel Cinemagraph Pro.

Bell Brook Farm Cinemagraph – Flixl Cinemagraph Pro

This is a cinemagraph I created for Bell Brook Farm. Bell Brook Farm is a farm stand located in my hometown of West Brookfield, MA. They sell flowers and Christmas Trees courtesy of Al’s Christmas Tree Lot in Worcester, MA.

Creating the video

I used a shot of a bunch of colorful flowers in a group for the main shot of the cinemagraph. It was windy that day, so I got a lot of movement out of the flowers. I thought it would be a cool idea to make a cinemagraph where only one flower moved.

I created the overlay in Photoshop. For the font, I used a script font called Pacifico. Pacifico was the perfect combination of elegant and playful. I also added the Bell Brook logo next to Bell Brook Farm.

The video below shows how the cinemagraph was shot and masked using Flixel Cinemagraph Pro.

This cinemagraph was relatively easy to make because I didn’t have to coordinate any extra talent. There was also a nice, subtle breeze the day of filming, which made the flowers move at the rate I wanted them too. Overall, I think it’s a very nice piece.

Reverb Cinemagraph

For this project, I created a cinemagraph for Reverb. Reverb is an online marketplace for musicians where you can buy new and used instruments, including guitars, basses, drums, etc.

Storyboard

First, I created a storyboard to show the general layout of the cinemagraph. I wanted to have the cymbal take up most of the frame, as it was the main subject of the cinemagraph. I wanted to get a shot of the cymbal rocking back and forth, and have a motion blur on the hands to give the illusion of movement.

Shooting the Cinemagraph

Next, I shot the footage for the cinemagraph. I would like to thank Ajay Coletta from Hey Nineteen for being the drummer in my cinemagraph. I would also like to thank John Nguyen for taking some behind the scenes photos:

One thing I learned from this experience is using communication effectively as a director. Communication is important when working on any project.

Finally, I created a video showing the editing process in Flixl Cinemagraph Pro:

Overall, I’m glad I was able to work on this project. If graphic design wasn’t my first choice, I would be pursuing a career in music. Being able to combine both of my passions into one project made working on the cinemagraph more enjoyable.

Discord WIRED Magazine Video

The Objective

This is my Discord WIRED Magazine video for the magazine cover I created. The goal was to create a video about the process behind making the Discord magazine cover. The video was edited using Screenflow.

Discord – Not Just For Gamers

I decided to go with Discord for my magazine cover. Discord is a voice chat app where users can talk, text, or have video conversation in a chat channel. Discord is mainly marketed to gamers, so I created a concept where Discord would start to market itself as an app that can be used for business use.

I placed the Discord mascot, Wumpus on an Olympic podium with two of Discord’s main competitors, Skype and Slack. The concept represents Discord being placed in higher regard than other #VoIP apps.

Screencasting

I started by screencasting all of my online footage. This included the web research, the Illustrator section, and the Cinema 4D section.

I made sure I got all of the footage I needed and even recorded a little extra just in case. It’s always good to record more than what you need rather than less.

External Footage

I recorded my external footage with my Canon EOS Rebel T5i. One thing I tried differently was recording myself on camera talking about my process. I was feeling adventurous and wanted to add a bit of personality to my video.

Screenflow video timeline

I also added some B-roll footage of myself sketching, and working on the magazine cover on my computer.

Controlling the Audio

The audio that the camera recorded was really loud, so I went to the audio settings and brought the volume down. Audio is definitely hard to nail if you’re a beginner at video editing, which is why it’s such a valuable design asset if you get it right.

I also added a stock music track from bensound.com. It has a large selection of royalty free music that you can use for your videos.

Call to Action

At the end of the video, I created a call to action section where I promoted my website and social media. I want to get my audience engaged and convince them to browse my other work.
