Gatorade Cinemagraph
This is a cinemagraph I created for Gatorade. Gatorade is an American sports-themed beverage and food company built around its signature line of sports drinks. The concept behind the Gatorade cinemagraph was casting a shadow that would be seen drinking from the bottle while having the physical body suspended mid-gulp.
Shooting the footage
I’d like to thank Spencer Clarke and Kody Twomey for helping me set ups and shoot the cinemagraph.
It was a little difficult to get the shadow at the right angle and intensity, but we finally got the right angle that we needed.
I kneeled down for the shot and cropped above the waist to make it look like I was standing. There was a backdrop hanging too close to my head while standing that I did not want in the shot.
We set up a hard tin light that was placed to the side of me and pointed directly at me to create the hard shadow. It’s still a little soft around the edges, but you can still make out the shape of the arms and body.
Here’s a video showing the shooting process in action as well as the post-production in Flixel Cinemagraph Pro.
