Instagram Marketing Animated Infographic

It’s been about a year since my online portfolio has come to life, and it’s been about a year since I’ve shared my portfolio on various social media platforms. Recently, I thought about how I can optimize my posts to get the most engagement from my audience. Instagram, in particular, was my main focus. I did some research and created an animated infographic about using Instagram as a marketing tool.

I also created a still infographic about Instagram marketing that you can check out here.

Storyboard

This is the storyboard for the infographic. Most of what is in this storyboard is in the final product. Creating the storyboard is so helpful compared to just jumping into After Effects and creating an animation from scratch.

Aesthetic Analysis

A common cliché with infographics is that most of them are done in flat style. It’s visually appealing in any interface and media, but it’s overdone. I wanted to create an animation similar to flat design, but I wanted to add some 3D elements that elevated the project (the Instagram World icon for example).

A little detail I like so much about this animation is the subtle shadows that are seen on the background and the elements of the animation. It gives the piece so much depth and life to it.

Let’s Bring it to Life

Time to put the idea in motion. I used a lot of different compositions for the different sections of the animation. It’s a good way to break the animation down into smaller chunks, rather than put all the assets into one comp.

Final Thoughts

I’m really proud of how the animated infographic turned out. We usually see infographics as still images. However, creating an animated infographic will be more engaging for the viewer. They will be inclined to pay longer attention to the content.
