Reverb Cinemagraph

For this project, I created a cinemagraph for Reverb. Reverb is an online marketplace for musicians where you can buy new and used instruments, including guitars, basses, drums, etc.

Storyboard

First, I created a storyboard to show the general layout of the cinemagraph. I wanted to have the cymbal take up most of the frame, as it was the main subject of the cinemagraph. I wanted to get a shot of the cymbal rocking back and forth, and have a motion blur on the hands to give the illusion of movement.

Shooting the Cinemagraph

Next, I shot the footage for the cinemagraph. I would like to thank Ajay Coletta from Hey Nineteen for being the drummer in my cinemagraph. I would also like to thank John Nguyen for taking some behind the scenes photos:

One thing I learned from this experience is using communication effectively as a director. Communication is important when working on any project.

Finally, I created a video showing the editing process in Flixl Cinemagraph Pro:

Overall, I’m glad I was able to work on this project. If graphic design wasn’t my first choice, I would be pursuing a career in music. Being able to combine both of my passions into one project made working on the cinemagraph more enjoyable.
